Internship Opportunity at World Famous AT&T Company in USA

AT&T s one of the leading telecom company in the world. AT&T labs is very well known for telecommunication software development. There are many branch or division for various types of research. Every year this company offer internship opportunities to USA living students. It is not necessary that student must be US citizen. But students must have a US social security number.

Internship eligibility qualifications: Currently enrolled, or planning to enroll, in a graduate school program leading to a PhD.Major Field must be in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Operation Research, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.

Each summer, research interns from universities all over the US come to AT&T Labs Research for 10 weeks to work with AT&T Researchers on exciting, real-world research projects.   Interns have access to relevant data, expertise and mentoring by AT&T Researchers.  As part of the vibrant intern community, interns have the opportunity to build long lasting relationships with student peers and industry Researchers.

Applicants for summer internships may be members of an existing university collaboration or may apply as individuals. Candidates are typically graduate students but advanced undergraduates will also be considered in exceptional cases. Introduce a Girl to Engineering
To enhance  the Gender development ExxonMobil annually hosts “Introduce a Girl to Engineering” events at company sites across the country with activities designed to encourage careers in engineering. The program seeks to promote curiosity among middle school students, and particularly help shrink the gender gap in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. For more than a decade, hundreds of company employees have helped demonstrate to more than 4,000 students that engineering careers are not only exciting, rewarding and diverse, but also offer the power to make a difference in society.
 
Junior Achievement
ExxonMobil provides grants to local, regional, national and international Junior Achievement organizations that educate and inspire young people to understand business and economics, while also preparing them to enter the workforce. In addition, trained ExxonMobil employee volunteers lead specific lesson plans at schools of their choice. Junior Achievement has added a science and math component to the Junior Achievement curriculum.

National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME)
NACME, founded more than 30 years ago, and supported by corporations, has the goal of leading the effort to increase the representation of minority men and women in engineering and related careers. Block grants for scholarships are awarded to universities that have a track record and a focus to increase the number of minority engineering graduates. In addition, NACME is helping establish engineering academics in more than 100 inner city high schools.

National Science Teachers Association (NSTA)
ExxonMobil has provided NSTA with a $2 million grant in support of their National Learning Center. Through this initiative, ExxonMobil and NSTA will provide a new online professional development program to upper elementary and middle school teachers in selected school districts.

Outreach programs
ExxonMobil provides funds to selected organizations and universities that seek to improve the career opportunities of women and minorities, particularly in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. For example, ExxonMobil contributes to Society of Women Engineers programs that strive to attract women to engineering and technical professions. Other organizations funded by ExxonMobil include the National Society of Black Engineers, the Hispanic Heritage Foundation Youth Awards and the Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers.
 
Science Ambassador Program
ExxonMobil employees participate in an in-class volunteer program focused on education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics targeted at middle school students.
 
SECME, Inc.
SECME is a strategic alliance that partners schools, universities, industry and government to renew and strengthen the professional capacity of K-12 educators; motivate and mentor students; and, empower parents and communities to prepare minority youth for careers in the math, science, engineering and technology fields. ExxonMobil’s support of SECME directly aids several initiatives including the Summer Institute for Teachers.
 
Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
ExxonMobil’s contribution to SWE is used to support outreach programs to attract young women to the fields of engineering. As a longstanding partner of SWE, ExxonMobil supports Invent It. Build It., a hands-on engineering program for middle school girls, specifically Girl Scouts. Held annually during SWE’s national conference, the program introduces girls to the benefits of STEM careers through interactive challenges coordinated by PBS’ Design Squad Nation, engaging presentations from industry leaders and a parallel initiative for parents and educators.

Project name :
Developing a simulation methodology for tyre interaction with a contaminated runway that includes the dynamics of both tyre and liquids.

The project:

The project is involve in testing, characterization and analysis of Tyre and ground, models that can be used for simulation of aircraft operations during ground roll under crosswind conditions. The main focus of the study (PhD topic) will be to develop a simulation methodology for tyre interaction with a contaminated runway that includes the dynamics of both tyre and liquids. This will involve developing models based on both empirical data developed from experiments and modelling (FEA). The study is part of a project sponsored by the European Union and Future Sky.

What the candidate will do: The candidate will participate in a fully-funded PhD program at the Centre of Automotive Technology (CAT) at Cranfield University, UK. The PhD will give the candidate  a unique hands-on Project which will include testing and analysis of rubber and tyre models and its interactions with various ground conditions. the main duty of the candidate is to  develop simulation models using LS DYNA (FEA + ALE). This experience will enable student to broaden and deepen your core engineering skills and explore those research areas that interest you most.
What you’ll get out of it: CAT has exceptional industrial links, with many projects offered by industrial partners. The centre is also involved in many EU and UK funded projects. Exposure to these projects will provide the candidate with valuable knowledge and insight into the world of Transport Systems. CAT is also involved in MSc Motorsports Engineering course.

On completion of the programme you will leave with far more than just a PhD qualification; you will have the skills, knowledge and acumen to become the future technical leader in advanced tyre mechanics and modelling, be it in academia or industry.
More about CAT: The Centre for Automotive Technology focuses on research, development, education and training through short course provision in relation to vehicles including motorcars, sports utility vehicles (SUVs), motorcycles, competition cars, racing motorcycles, low carbon vehicles (LCVs), agricultural machinery, industrial machinery, military vehicles, space vehicles, marine vessels, air and landing craft.

Entry requirements:
Applicants should have a first or second class UK honors degree or equivalent in a related discipline, such as mathematics, or engineering. The ideal candidate should have solid background to understand in the area of simulation, numerical modelling and industrial service delivery. The candidate should be self-motivated, have good communication skills for regular interaction with other stakeholders, with an interest for industrial research.
