Angela Uzielli Bursaries
Girl golfers who are  studying at college or university and want to continue to develop their game are invited to apply for an Angela Uzielli Bursary.

The  Angela Uzielli award is established in memory of the great English amateur   Angela Uzielli , who was a British champion, a Curtis Cup player and who won both the English championship and the British senior title in the same year.

The founding capital was provided by Hugh and Catherine Stevenson, friends of the Uzielli family. It is intended that the income from the capital will fund up to four bursaries at any one time, of up to £1250 - £1500 each per annum.

The bursaries, for educational expenses, will be awarded to promising girl golfers who wish to further their education at university or college, within the British Isles, after school academic year 12, and at the same time continue to develop their golfing skills. They should be of English nationality by birth or have either parent of English nationality, or have been resident in England for the last two years. The awards will be administered through the EWGA Trust.

The Bursaries will continue for the duration of their academic course. However, they will be reviewed annually and the students will need to show that their enthusiasm and commitment to their golf have been satisfactory before the next year's funds are released.

Applications must include a recommendation and confidential report on the applicant from the appropriate county officials. These will then be submitted to the EWGA Trust Management Committee who, in consultation with Mr John Uzielli, will make the final decision on the granting of the Bursary.






The annual review procedure will require the recipients to provide a statement of their golfing and academic progress to the EWGA Trust Management Committee before 31 July of each year.

The University of Birmingham awards scholarships each year to national and international level athletes who are studying or are about to study at Birmingham. These awards provide financial and specialist support to talented young athletes. Scholarships are open to all students irrespective of nationality or course.

Since its inception in 1994, the University of Birmingham Sport Scholarship scheme has helped hundreds of student-athletes.  UBSport currently offer around 40 University of Birmingham Sport scholarships per annum. There are a variety of scholarships available.

Equipment, Competition & Training expenses: Individual expense budget to contribute to the costs of your equipment, training and competition costs ~ up to £1,500

Coaching Expenses: Access to additional funding for 1-2-1 or small group specialist coaching with UBS Head Coach or external specialist coach

Fitness Suite/Swimming Pool Membership: Free access to UBS fitness suite and swimming pool

Training Facilities: Access to additional training times free (includes booking water based pitches, badminton/ squash courts/ Slater Hall)

Mentoring/Lifestyle Support: Regular meetings with a staff mentor tailored to your needs. Key aspects of scholarship includes advice and support through to academic flexibility.

Educational/Sporting Workshops: Access to range of seminars designed for elite athletes including external speakers.

Athlete Profiling: Comprehensive profiling of athlete to design an annual support package including: muscular skeletal assessment, strength and conditioning (S&C), movement screening, sports psychology, and nutrition consultation.

Strength & Conditioning: Individually designed S&C program, coaching via 1-2-1 & small group sessions by accredited HPC S&C coaches, access to track/ speed sessions and recovery sessions with ongoing monitoring and testing.

Who can apply for a UBSport scholarship?

• Scholarships are open to all students irrespective of nationality or course.
• Individuals cannot receive both a UBSport scholarship and TASS scholarship in the same academic year but are encouraged to apply for both (if relevant) in the first instance.
• We welcome applications from prospective students, even if they have not yet received an offer, or had a place confirmed at the University.
• Scholarships are reviewed annually and we encourage applications from any year of study.
