St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (ITMO University) is holding an open competition for projects from creative teams - ITMO Fellowship and Visiting Professorship Program.

The applications should fit into strategic research directions of ITMO University:
- • Optics and Photonics
- • Informational Technologies and Computer Systems
- • Nanotechnologies and Advanced Materials
- • Automatic Control and Signal Processing
Interdisciplinary projects bridging the above strategic research areas of ITMO University combining Natural Sciences, Information Technologies with other disciplines; e.g. Economy and Society, Life and Health Sciences, will be given serious consideration.
Common requirements:
- Researchers from all nationalities.
- Higher core education.
- PhD or equivalent research experience (minimum 4 years).
- For the candidates working for neither English speaking nor Russian speaking universities or research centers – confirmation of knowing the language. ITMO University. ITMO University will accept a score of 6.5 in the British Council IELTS test or a TOEFL score of 92 (internet based), or its equivalent. For applicants with a significant record of publications in English but without evidence of certification, may be asked to undergo an evaluation of their oral ability in English during the interview process.
Qualification requirements:
- Candidates for ITMO’s Visiting Professorships should have experience of working in recognized universities, research institutes or centers or R&D companies.
- At least 15 papers in the last 5 years.
Evaluation criteria and requirements:
- Track record of outstanding research and evidence of delivering impact.
- Evidence of international standing and influence in the context of the research and demonstrates evidence of recognition in the community on an international scale.
- Demonstration of leadership within the research community.
- An aptitude for identifying, exploring and developing research opportunities more broadly and across different interfaces.
- Can demonstrate how they have positioned themselves to take up these opportunities and have the ability to make strategic research assessments and judgments.
- At least 6 papers in referred journals co-authored or accepted for publication per year.
- At least 2 conference as a speaker per year.
- Supervision of ITMO students: 2 PhD students or 1 PhD student and 2 MSc students.

- curriculum vitae;
- list of publications (published and pending);
- research proposal (NB It should be linked to one of our existing strategic research priorities and current research activity, or groups, at ITMO University see Appendix 2);
- names of three referees (who should be acquainted with the candidate’s current or most recent research work).
After the submission all the applications will go through a preliminary assessment by the competition committee to ensure that they comply with the requirements and be approved to presentation. References will be asked from those included in the short-list of applicants. Successful candidates will be invited to the personal or telephone interview.
